About this project
Utrecht University has a rich history of interesting and important scientific discoveries. Researchers from every discipline have made their marks. Principles and methods they discovered are still used in modern-day science. But how many Utrechters still know about the ground-breaking discoveries made in their own town, and made by people who have walked the same streets as them?
To give these discoveries more recognition, there are multiple mural paintings about these discoveries. The project is started by Utrecht physicists Sander Kempkes and Ingmar Swart, along with the artist collective De Strakke Hand.
Scientific murals can also be found in Leiden, Vienna, and Prague. We hope that local scientists from other cities join the initiative! Please contact Ingmar Swart if you want to know more.
